Raymond James Hosts Thompson Rivers University Business Students for Corporate Visit

On April 26, 2024, Raymond James welcomed a group of enthusiastic business students from Thompson Rivers University (TRU), marking a significant milestone in the ongoing collaboration between the two institutions.

Determined to offer TRU students a comprehensive view of the corporate landscape, senior executives took their time to speak to the group. From compliance and HR to tax and equity sales, students gained valuable insights into various departments.

"We wanted to give these students a broader perspective," said Paul Siluch, Portfolio Manager, who spearheaded the initiative. "They don’t often get opportunities like this, especially compared to students from coastal universities. We were thrilled to see 23 eager faces, all wearing matching TRU Student Investment Fund sweaters, filling up our corporate boardroom."

In addition to the visit, the students were taken to Seymour Investment Management, a boutique money manager in Vancouver. Following up on the success of the visit, the goal is to further strengthen the bridge between Thompson Rivers University and Raymond James.

The visit left a lasting impression on the students as well. Some of the comments from the students included:

"It was amazing to see how each career path is not linear, so I am interested in the very different facets within RJ."

"The perspective the team gained yesterday was even better than I expected. In the end, it left the team more motivated than ever. A good way to start off the summer!"

"We were so impressed with the senior VP’s who took time out of their busy schedules to meet with our group. Thank you so much!"

With initiatives like these, Raymond James continues to invest in the future generation of business leaders, creating a more inclusive and diverse corporate landscape.
